We hit the bookstore today. I wanted to look for a few books on Lightroom and photography. I have been using the library more often lately, but I do love a good bookstore visit. I love wandering the aisles and looking at books I would not normally look at.

I love watching the kids play with the train table – the exact trains we have at home that they ignore, but that’s besides the point. The point is that this time of year is the best time of year to go to the bookstore, because I have a confession to make. I love love love kids Halloween books.

My most favorite is Room on the Broom, which I believe I have mentioned on here before. It is such a fun read. I even took it to C’s pre-school to read there, such is my love for this book.

Today I have found two (2!!) new ones to add to my collection that I adore…Both are parodies of other books, that you should recognize, but with a fun Halloween twist!

Runaway Mummy

Both have been read multiple times today to the kids. They are fun reads with (not-so-scary) monsters and fun rhymes. Also, the Mummy in Runaway Mummy calls her mummy son “rotten,” I could not pass it by.

Lastly, I picked up, How Do Dinosaurs Say I Love You, which is a cute reminder of why we love these sometimes crazy, misbehaved, yet so very lovable kids. A reminder that I need on the weekends. Plus, dinosaurs. Which is a win in Bits book.

So what books do you love to read to your kids? We are always open to suggestions that won’t leave us wanting to a) jump off a cliff, or b)impale any body part while reading so you can get thru the 10,000 time reading the same book…

The Kissing Hand was my fave for a long time … then too “babyish.” Bear Snores More is a cute winter story.
