Sam_Ruby

I heard this show on NPR featuring Sam & Ruby. Actually, I heard the last song, The Suitcase Song, which is the last minute of the program, needless to say, I missed who it was singing, but the song called to me. I loved the music and the voice, so I went home and googled it and found Sam and Ruby. So then I found the entire show on NPR, heard more of their songs. Loved all of them. Downloaded more from iTunes. I am loving this music. It is amazing and says something to me. Right now, I listen to the song, “The Here and the Nows” every time I am in the car. You can relax to this music and there is something about their voices that I just can’t get enough of.

C started kindergarten this week. I am enjoying this picture, so much…

C ready to catch the bus

******

So far school is going great. I think C is really enjoying his new class and making friends. He has been taking the bus, with a bit of hesitation and prodding from us. He has been very well-behaved in class, and I hope the added responsibilities of school really help him. I found this aricle from the Boston Globe. The author writes…

Just as every baby is a miracle, every kindergartener is a personification of the passage of time, a living proof that babies grow up to be people with foibles and preferences and tempers and crazy ideas.

And it is just what I have been thinking about as I watch C taking on these changes, and handling them all very well. I see him look around for friends, he loves it when we run into people he knows when we are out and about. He keeps a list of people we have seen out, and loves to bring it up. But I know these moments are bittersweet and soon will be a part of our past. Just as the first day of school, as we walked up to the school, he grabbed my hand, worried about walking across the parking lot is now a part of our past. By writing these moments here, I hope to help him remember as he grows.

Brothers

Last but not least, we also changed day cares for R, and he started the same day C started his new school. Lots of change in our house right now! He now goes to the same pre-school that C went to. He is even with the same group of teachers. Well, we told the teachers that Bits (R’s nickname, from Uncle B) was joining the school, but we did not really mention it to the kids. The teacher told me this from the other day…

All the kids were sitting in the reading circle. Bits comes to sit in the teacher’s lap as she is sitting in the circle. She has kids around her and now Bits on her lap. A little boy sitting next to the teacher looks at Bits. Looks around and looks at Bits again. He says to the teacher, ‘Ms. Teacher, I do believe that Bits looks just like my old friend CM!’ And Teacher laughs and says to Boy, ‘Yes he does because just like Big Brother is your big brother, CM is Bits’ big brother!’

So cute and just a reminder to me, that while I can’t always see it, others are telling me my boys look the same.

Hope everyone is enjoying this transition into new schedules, school, and fall…

So sweet! And I want that picture of C to come to my snail mailbox (please!). It’s awesome. I can’t belive how big he looks. And I must say that I love that you are using B’s name for R. He will be so pleased! He currently calls lala “little bit” when referring to her, so I can only imagine what Sweet Pea will be.
