My boy having a great time in the pool. He has been a little scared of pools for most of his life, even with promises from both mom and dad that nothing will happen to him. This summer with water play, camp, and swim lessons with a best friend, things have changed dramatically. Now, he isn’t completely at ease in the water, but he is getting better about it. He is a) in the water, b) has learned to blow bubbles and c) will let go of us (and float with his vest float) by the end of summer. I want him to enjoy the water more than I did as a kid growing up.

I didn’t learn to swim until late as a kid and even then, I was still uncomfortable going swimming or hanging out at the pool with friends. During the summers, I often felt left out. I am hoping by getting him in the water and lessons now, we can avoid that. I am not hoping for a champion swimmer, just a kid that will go to the pool with friends and be able to have a good time – any thing beyond that would be icing on the cake to me!
