Already two months have gone by since you have joined us! Big changes have happened to you in the last month. You like to smile and when you do, your whole face lights up from your eyes to your mouth. It makes my day to see those smiles. I like nothing more than to sit and try to get you to give me one of your winning smiles. You smile at things you like, people you know –you smile at C, at Daddy, and at me. One of my favorite “Mom to R†moments so far is when we were visiting your Grandma in NC, we were at a fair. You needed to be fed, so Dad took you to a shady spot to feed you while I walked around with your Grandma and C. When we walked up to you and Dad, you were still eating, but you paused to give us some of the biggest smiles. First from behind the bottle and then out in the open after Dad decided to give you a “smiling†break. It was the best.
You are eating well now. For a while there it was a struggle. Feeding you was more of a chore and less enjoyable than I thought it should be. You were very unhappy at feeding times too. So we did a bit a research and discovered that it may be the bottles we were using, so we tried a different bottle and slowly feeding time got better and easier. You are happier, and finally, your appetite is growing! Now feeding you I get to watch you eat and look in your beautiful baby blue eyes instead of fight with you to keep the bottle in your mouth and struggle to make sure you eat enough food! Winners all around!
We recently traveled to your Grandma’s house in NC. You traveled well and seemed pretty OK with the road trip. You mostly slept and were pretty quiet in the car. We took you and C to the beach and watched the waves for a bit. I hope this was the first of many easy road trips with you!
You love to “talk†to us and smile and babble back at us if we talk back to you. You like to tell us about your day, your dreams, who knows, but it is one of the nicest sounds! I like to ask you “..and then what happens…†as if we are in the middle of a conversation. You also like to try to make the same sounds I make to you. So if I say, “oh!†you like to mimic it back to me. And then you smile like, “Hooray! I did it!†I hope the first of many Hoorays! you’ll share with me.
I love to see C with you. He likes to talk to you, touch you on the hands and feet, and give you kisses. You know him so well already, smiling when you see him and looking for him when you hear him. I am so glad I get to watch you two grow together. My boys, my little men, I am so excited to be allowed to be a part of it.
I just love those boys! I can’t believe how big they are both getting. Slow them down. Put books on C’s head and make R stay little just a bit longer. I’m looking forward to our next visit, whenever it may be!
Boy you are right- slow them down! The boys are so sweet. I love just looking at them! We love you all- love Grandma
