This weekend the Apple Store finally opening in our local mall. Given that it was so close and we are such big Apple fans, we decided to go to the opening. Some openings can be a huge deal, but I didn’t really know what to expect from this one. We knew C couldn’t wait a long in line, so I went over to the mall at 8:00 with my book, got some Starbucks, and walked down to the new store to hold us a place in line. The store opened at 10:00. It’s a good thing I went early because there we already about 25 people in line and by around 9:00 the line was stretching outside the mall. Laurie and C joined me around 9:30 to wait the rest of the way.

Overall it was pretty cool. The employees held a little mini pep rally in front of the store before opening things up for us all and the non-Apple enthusiasts had a good laugh at everyone. It was a bit too crowded for what I normally like, but it was worth it for the experience.

Laurie had dreams of getting a Genius t-shirt …

but had to settle for the free one we received.

Sorry for the poor picture quality, but we were warned by the mall security that pictures were not allowed in the mall (or any stores) at all, so we snapped a few shots with my phone.
