I can’t believe you are almost a year and a half old. You are growing up on me. This is such a fun age and it seems like you are learning new things everyday – that I can barely keep up. So I wanted to tell some of the fun moments we’ve had with you in the last month!
You love to read books! For along time you just kind of put up with me while I read you stories, now you are starting to listen to the story, point and say pictures in the book and even telling me some of the story! It is an amazing change. Your favorite book right now is Sometimes I like to Curl up in a Ball By Charles Fuge and Vicki Churchill. You will sit and look at this book for long periods of time. Sometimes I hear you talking to the book and sometimes to me about the book. You point to pictures and say, “Uh Oh” at the picture where the wombat fell over and when he is curled in a ball you tell me, “ball.”
You also like to look at other books. Another favorite is your baby counting book. At the end it has pictures of fruit. You love fruit. You would eat it all day if I let you. You saw this page of fruit and immediately said “More” while doing the sign language for more “tapping” your hands together. I think you think fruit is “more” because we always give it to you after dinner!
The other day, you and I were coming down stairs. I asked you to turn around to come down the steps on your knees – you being silly turned all the way around and smiled at me, like you knew you were being silly!
I know you love your daddy. He usually leaves before you wake up, but some days you manage to wake up before he leaves. When this happens you are so happy. You always give him a big hug and say, “bye bye” to him, generally after he is gone.
You are amazing to me. I sneak into your room every night before I go to sleep. To see you sleeping there, looking so peaceful always catches my breath and makes my heart stand still. I am truly awed when I see you in those moments. I love you so much, little boy!
