Dear amazing, wonderful, son,

Wow, we’re here…15 months…There is so much to say and I have no idea where to begin. This has been such an amazing time. You are changing so much before our very eyes, that I am breathless just thinking about it. I am constantly amazed by you and the things you are learning. Before our very eyes, C, you are turning into the most adorable human being.

Now don’t get me wrong. There are times, when I wonder why oh why do I put myself through this and then I see you look at something with awe and wonder and I remember – this is why.

You are up to so much right now. Words are starting to join our daily “Uhhhhh…” with “uh-oh” (your current favorite), we also have “aball” for ball, “abook” for book, “aex” for Alex. We also heard “belbutn” for belly button, just tonight. This is so exciting! I know that soon more words, and eventually sentences will come. Most of all, hearing your voice is magical. You love to play with balls like your football, wiffle ball, and rubber bouncy ball that we have around the house. You run around yelling, “aball, aball, aball” for long stretches. I find it SO adorable.

You are also beginning to play at pretending. You currently like to pretend to pour and serve your daddy and I. It is sweet to see you stand at your little table, line up the cups, and pour, painstakingly so you don’t spill any, into the cups. You then bring them to us and we are very excited and tell you how yummy it tastes.

You also noticed me laugh at something on the T.V. and you now think this is what you do to the T.V. so you now laugh at various intervals towards the T.V. Sometimes, it is even a fake laugh, which I find so charming.

The dogs are starting to get more of your attention. I have seen you try to kiss and hug them. Sometimes I see you leaning on one of them (not Moo) or just looking at them – trying to figure them out I assume. Don’t worry little one, you are the top of the food chain and they now know it (even Moo). But I do love to encounter these quiet moments that you take when you lean on them – I stop and think – ahhhhh a boy and his beagle. Perfect together. One of these days you’ll hold it long enough for me to capture it on film.

Thinking back over all you do is so exciting. I am so proud of you. I am so proud of this little family we have here. The other weekend, the house was quiet, relatively clean and we were all just together. You were playing, dad on the ‘puter, and mom was reading. The dogs were in various places, resting or watching you. I looked up – the sun was shining and I knew that this moment, this place, this is happiness. I have such high hopes for you and the future, but number one is for you to be happy and I do hope we help you get there. So my 15 month old, I love you. So much. Continue to be independent, learn new things, amaze me, but most of all, be happy.
Love, Mama
