Laurie is managing alone this week while I am out in New Orleans for the HEAD meeting. I’ve only been here a couple days, but so far I’m not all that impressed. I can see the appeal for college students and people who really like to party, but it’s just not my scene. I will have to admit that the food is very good though. Had dinner at Pat O’Brian’s last night, home of the “Best Hurricane in New Orleans” for the past 5 or so years. It was my first Hurricane so I can’t vouch for that statement. It was good though, as were the red beans and rice. A couple colleagues and I ate breakfast this morning at Brennan’s. Their three-course breakfast was very good and I will not need lunch today. I think I blew all my pre diem for the day though. Tomorrow I am trekking over to Cafe Du Monde for my beignet and coffee that is supposedly a must if you visit New Orleans. A beignet, according to their website, is a square piece of dough, fried and covered with powdered sugar. I’ll report on it later.
